The Bruce Lee Foundation has proposed that a statue of Bruce Lee be erected, along with a commemorative plaque, at the Alpine Recreation Center in Chinatown, Los Angeles.
Chinatown, being the historic community where Bruce Lee established the Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute.
It might interest many to know that the Chinatown school has produced most of our first generation Jeet Kune Do teachers and served as an incredibly important hub for the perpetuation of the Bruce Lee martial art philosophy.
The site of the old school now lies vacant and in disrepair.
Help commemorate Bruce Lee’s contribution to the community and the world by supporting the statue proposal.
There has been some opposition to placing a Bruce Lee statue at the Alpine Rec Center, however you can help make it happen.
Please call the Councilman’s office and say, “Yes, we want a Bruce Lee Statue at the Alpine Recreation Center.”

Bruce Lee inspired all of the martial arts and action movies we have today. Besides the movies many mixed martial artists beleive as i do that his philosophies led the way for mma. his teachings of using only what is effective, has played a great part in the UFC we watch on t.v. Bruce Lee has definatly one of the biggest impacts not on just america but the entire world.
it was very interesting to read.
I want to quote your post in my blog. It can?
And you et an account on Twitter?

Hi. I have learned a lot from observing bruce lee and I found that the ways he teaches himself and the ways I have come to self learn are one in the same. He has said that he takes what he can use from each martial art to use for himself. I first heard this and then began applying this to other things I wanted to learn about myself and it has given me a whole new perspective on things. I thank bruce lee for sharing these insights with me through his movies and books and he is and always will be my hero. Thank you Bruce Jun Fan Lee! You are loved and missed. I never knew who you were but I feel like you are my sensei anyways. You are always my teacher, the only teacher who really helped me so hugely with my mind. So many people think of only your martial arts skill, but many people do not realize who you were deep enough to understand everything you are teaching with your wise words.
Bruce Lee was an inspriration for all of us. He broke barriers in not only martial arts but was color blind when working with any person who wanted to learn his art. We should all try and be like Water as he suggested. I certainly support a memorial for him at the Alpine Rec Center.
Thank you for sharing this Nhan! MARISOL! I WANT A BRUCE LEE STATUE IN CHINATOWN!!!!
I have submitted this question on YAHOO ANSWERS that should get more fans and martial artists involved to speak-out!!!
To Gary Castleberry hey bro. we might be a great big mixing pot of folks from everywhere over the whole planet. But it is such a small world to see that we know Bruce wanted to see character of people like Dr. Martin Luther King and color was immaterial!!! Right On!!!
bruce was an inspiration
Yeah, I heard it was because they thought the statue was supposed to be Jackie Chan!
I’ll spread the word.
BRUCE LEE statue is no longer being erected. Proposal was shot down again by the communites brainless board members. these members need to be replaced..they are not helping the community, but only causing pointless drama to it. the money is there but instead they like to keep collecting more and keeping their wallets fat…COME ON…HELP THE COMMUNITY FOR ONCE….NEW BOARD MEMBERS would definatley benefit this problem.
i cant believe that the BRUCE LEE statue was not approved after all the community went through to get it. Kareem and Bruce trained at alpine back in the day so it is signifigant to present this to the center. I AGREE with the last post. being a former chinatown board member of the past, ive learned that the memebers now are basically ruling with an iron fist and basically shoot down proposals without even hearing of them (must be mind readers). alpine rec center is doin great in their part,,NO THANKSS to the same lame board memebers..get rid of these old school useless men and young arrogant jerks and replace them with people who are professional and care and for about community. please contact the # above to support this again. ALSO… COMPLAINTS go to the China town commitee members..indeed there are many many many from CHINA TOWN RESIDENTS!!!! Thnaks
I want to see his status at the alpine center at any cost. Please support it.
Bruce Lee had and has always been my martial artist idol since I was ten when I first learned about him. I had always wanted to learn his martial arts. I once had a dream in which he said he would teach me his martial arts. I agree with everyone that he was an inspiration to everyone who is a fan of martial arts and martial artists alike! He will always be immortal as long as he remains in people’s hearts and minds!! BRUCE LEE FOREVER!!
